I wanted to revisit my experience with Troy Cosmetic Surgery. I had the Combituck 4 years ago. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I have talked about my surgery since I had it. I am still very satisfied. One of the most common questions is "Is there a scar?" Well of course there is. But the scar is no worse than the baby pouch and stretch marks that 2 beautiful babies left behind. I am not 22 and will not be wearing any string bikini's anytime or every again! But I don't mind the 2 piece bathing suits and I can wear those and the scar does not show. It really was the best thing I did for ME! As mom's we don't always put ourselves first or even in the top 5 but this one time I did. My stomach is flat and I have kept the weight off I lost and am really trying to stay fit. I used this surgery as my "getting over the hump" and my reason for doing the crunches, doing the treadmill, the 5k's and now kickboxing.

I love my flat tummy and am so glad that I had the Combituck. It is a combination of liposuction and a tummy tuck. One of the cool things for me was that the extra skin that Dr. S removed was about 85% stretch marks! So, not only do I have a flat tummy, and no baby pouch but less stretch marks!

Teenagers

Whew! I thought when you kids were younger, like 100% dependent on you for everything, that that is when they need you most. Was I wrong! What a balancing act we have as parents to teach our children what choices to make, how to act and how to react - whatever happened to feed me and put clothes on my back and give me shelter! Those days are gone. The first 3 weeks of 2012 for me have been everything from a health baby to girl drama at school to hating school to horse lessons and hitting a deer and everything in between.

I am realizing as my girls get older that teaching them to react the right way (the grown up way) is so important. I am realizing now that I didn't pre-preach that subject. Especially with girls, the drama is vicious and quick and ever changing. My goodness, if you have a pre-teen and it hasn't started yet - get ready for a rough ride. The phrases that have been going around our house have been - "guilty by association", "every choice (small or big) has a consequence (good or bad" and "listen to that little voice in the back of your head".

The clothes nowadays, too. I was overhearing a conversation between 2 dads today. I laughed out loud when I heard one say - "the girls today are dressing so revealing - they didn't dress like that when I was their age, did they? I sure didn't notice or was I that stupid?" JT and I went out on a date night a couple of weeks ago and I was stunned at what the 20 something crowd of girls we wearing. One girl had on a dress so short that if she bent over to tie her 6" boot, there would have been no reason for wearing anything at all. It was revolting. My father, whether I was 20 or today, would snatch me home and beat me the whole ride home and continue once we got home. What has happened to self respect, keeping the unseen to the imagination, and self worth. It is gone. With YouTube Videos, the internet in general and the mall/movies and anywhere else my teenagers are - how can I protect them. I can't. I have to teach them the right way and the wrong way and we are back to those sayings - we rolled our eyes at when we were our children's age - "guilty by association", "every choice (small or big) has a consequence (good or bad" and "listen to that little voice in the back of your head".

And I have found this picture on Facebook and it is so true. It always amazes me how pulled I am between the kids, the hubby, the furkids, the need for food and cleaning & laundry, the need for transportation, the need for me to go to the bathroom. Somedays it is just OVER - FREAKING - WHELMING! So here is the pic:

and in the past 5 minutes I have been interrupted about 6 times... lol...

It was so great to see my Aunt today. She and her hubby Ken drove from a small town outside of Bangor, Maine thru Montgomery on their way to see my dad in Pensacola and then Aunt Sue and Uncle Bill in Brooksville, FL. I was so glad that she called and had time for lunch at Chick Fil A on Ann Street today. First, they had never been to a Chick Fil A and they loved it! The service was stellar, as always and she was impressed that they were closed on Sundays! They got to meet JT, which I wanted, and we hadn't seen each other since my girls were small. It is amazing that no matter how many years go by, it is like no time has passed when you are reunited with family. I was so emotional to see her, the tears just trickled! She reminds me so much of my Grandmother, who has since past. I only had one grandparent, Grammie and she was amazing. Her stories got better as the years went by and she always remembered all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids birthdays! She never forgot one! I miss her a lot. What I remember most about growing up with Aunt Priscilla was her molasses cookies! They are amazing! And I will tell you a secret, she is the only person on the earth who is allowed to call me Leannie! LOL! I hate that name, but it sounds special to me when she calls me that. I hope that next time she comes thru or we make a trek to Maine, that she can see my girls! Grammie only got to meet Kimberlee and I was pregnant with Ashlee, facebook wasnt even a thought! Seeing her today brings back so many good memories of my parents when they were together and of course that brings the other side of the coin. One day I will write about my parents crazy and painful divorce! Whew.. what a deep and emotional blog..

Happy January...

It's Leanne and me and Pebbles are sitting by the fire (I know it's not cold enough, but it feels nice and she loves it). The first week of January is behind us. Christmas is done, New Years is over and we are moving full steam ahead. We have all 3 girls for the second half of the year. Rebeccah is attending Prattville Intermediate School and LOVES IT! She was very nervous but came home on her first day and said "Hello People - Everybody in my class is my FRIEND now!". We were so relieved. Prattville Intermediate gets a High Five! She also got braces from Chapman & Chapman Orthodontists and is doing good with them! Ashlee is still at Autauga Academy and doing very well and Kim is finishing the 2nd half of the year at PHS. She is working at Jose's Cantina 2 days during the week and doing FAB! This weekend she gets her health baby. The stories about what has happened to previous babies is hilarious. I will have to share that on the radio - too good to keep quiet. :)

Work is good. January is usually very slow for extra activities and remotes, which is nice for us. It lets us gradually get back into the swing of things after the holidays. We are looking forward to the BSC game on Monday night. It will be cool for JT is Alabama wins! I will have to get some new gear for him, Ashlee & Rebeccah. Kim and I are the only Auburn fans left in the house.

JT and I got a date night last night. We dropped off Ashlee & Rebeccah for the WWE show at the Garrett Coliseum Saturday night and we went to Buffalo Wild Wings - the food was good but the service could have been better with the hostess and there was a line of folks waiting in the lobby and A LOT of tables that needed to be cleaned off and the outdoor seating was horrible with trash and dirty tables. Maybe someone can tell a manager... But we did have fun and the boneless wings were FAB!

Tis the Season for Christmas Craziness!

Hey! It's JT - can Black Friday get any crazier? People camped out all night to get trampled to death and pepper-sprayed all in the hope of getting a $249 laptop or $500 Big Screen TV (But hey, it's 3D, right?). We spent Black Friday at Busch Gardens (see video on Facebook). The new Cheetah Hunt roller coaster is pretty cool, riders experience 4G's (one more than astronauts taking off in the shuttle who experience 3Gs). But the SHEEKRA is the best roller coaster I've ever been on. You are literally 200 feet in the air and drop at 70 mph into the Tampa skyline! It was great.

So now we return to the studio Monday (Nov 28) and are ready for all sorts of Christmas festivities in the area! It all starts Thursday Night with the Prattville Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony - we'll see you downtown Prattville by City Hall around 5:00pm! Then that same evening we'll be hosting the Taste of Home Cooking School at Alacazar Shrine Temple and the Baptist benefit concert featuring Point of Grace and Phillips, Craig & Dean at MPAC.

The Capitol City Christmas Parade in downtown Montgomery is Friday Night - Leanne & I will be riding on the Therapy Dogs on Call float preceded by the Mix 103 van. We are honored to have been asked to be part of this float which is going to be a front-runner for the design award this year thanks to our friends at Home Depot!

And Saturday December 3rd is full of events starting with the Jingle Bell Run at Huntington College in the morning, followed by the Millbrook Christmas Parade at 2pm (although the festivities begin on the Village Green at 9am). The Prattville Christmas Parade is Saturday as well at 4:30pm. We're going to try & make them all!

Giving Thanks

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, I am reminded of an important lesson my mom taught me and that I have not done a good job at passing down to my girls. Writing Thank You Notes! Not texting, not emailing but going to the store and getting a card or a piece of notebook paper and handwriting a note giving thanks! In this day and age of technology and spam mail and junk mail, a handwritten note in the mailbox delivered by the mailman is pretty exciting for the person receiving it. I am going to work on setting a better example for my girls.

It is so important to take the time to give thanks, especially this time of year and speaking in a good way about technology, a lot of folks on Facebook are taking a moment everyday in November to post what they are thankful for. I love it and played catch up yesterday and posted again today. I am going to try to keep that up, maybe not daily but at least weekly. A weekly recap of the week, whether typed or written in a journal (is on my resolution list AGAIN this year) is a great reminder that God is Good and a reminder of how strong our bonds with family and friends are.

JT and I took the girls to Dracula at ASF. It is a MUST see! WOW so cool and the special effects were amazing! The performance definitely gets an A+! Saturday was great also. JT got to gym and Kim and I spent time driving and going to Hobby Lobby (Ashlee was at friends house). It is funny how Kim and I have the same tastes. She is doing GREAT with driving! Then we got these nails things from CVS - like sticky things. I put those on her fingers. They actually look pretty good and then last night, we all roasted marshmallows out back by the fire JT built. He did good, after I mentioned putting the wood upright and I picked up Winn Dixie bagged wood. It was great. JT is working on a Video of the Week about it! It's Funny! And now today we are chilling and going over to Dee & Venus' house for a cookout. She has her baby on Wednesday! I am so excited. I can't wait to see baby Mays!

Crazy Weekend!

WOW! What a weekend. It started on Friday with the 4th Annual Baptist Health Breast Cancer Awareness Fair at Capitol Filmworks at the Shoppes at Eastchase. It was such a beautiful day and so many great vendors were on site. Also in attendance were the folks from the Joy to Life. Foundation. Joy is such an amazing face/spokesperson for their organization. They have helped so many women. For info on them visit - www.joytolife.org. Thanks to Chappy's Deli for providing fabulous sandwich trays. It was a great weather day and a lot of folks came by and got great info!

Then onto Saturday! JT and I were helping the Montgomery Humane Society with their Walk and Wag along with our Doxie Races. It was so much fun and another beautiful weather day. I love seeing all the different breeds of dogs and all the different vendors who love the MHS! Visit their website - www.montgomeryhumane.com for all the ways you can help and support their cause.

Wrapping up the weekend, we took Kim and Ashlee to the Alabama National Fair to see Luke Bryan. It was a great show. Ashlee was a little disappointed because she didn't know a lot of songs. We had to explain to her that some of the songs are new and that this is the way a lot of concerts go. I was so glad to see the place packed, too! Thanks to the MPD for doing a great job of keeping everything safe and your presence is appreciated by the families. Kudos to the Fair for making the kids section smoke free, that was very nice. I loved walking up and down the midway! So many rides and so many kids with big smiles on their faces. It was a lot of fun for JT and I just to be a married couple - not working. We will be working on Tuesday night for Ladies Night and BOGO for wristbands!

More great things coming to the River Region - Chicago and Shrek at MPAC and Jim Brickman is coming to the Embassy Suites, too.

Breakfast for Babies

JT and I participated in the 6th annual Breakfast for Babies. First, over the past 5 years, this event has raised over 60k and last year's event raised 16k. So this year's goal was to beat that, and we did! Thanks to Chappy's Deli, all the volunteers and the people who came. And boy did they come! We raised over 17k and served almost 3000 breakfasts! It was a great success and all the money raised goes to the March of Dimes. I love this event because it is so exciting to see the joy it brings people to give back. So many folks gave extra and we are appreciative and know how hard times are right now for a lot of folks. It touches your soul to give back and it touches mine to be a witness to it. You never know when it could be your family who has to endure a premature birth.

There are so many charities out there that need volunteers and funds. Pick one and roll up your sleeves and donate you time - get the kids involved! Teach them how to give back - what a legacy to leave them!

JT and I went to the Fair Luncheon today at the RSA Activity Center. It was great and there is a lot of great entertainment coming this year. Randy with the Fair kept saying there is 17 days to the Fair... That is crazy. Wasn't it just here. I am really looking for to Ladies Night, MIX 103 along with Adams Drugs is helping sponsor and promote that evening. Wristbands are buy one get one free!!! Everyone loves a BOGO. Another note, it is about 416pm and the rain is coming down. My grass is drinking it up. I love how clean everything smells after the rain. I do feel back for our neighbor across the street. He was going to pour his driveway today. He has waited probably 6-9 months to save money, today was the day and now look at this weather.. the irony!

Ashlee has a volleyball game today. I am waiting for a text to see how she did. I wasn't able to drive this time. I really love Autauga Academy. She is doing fab. Kim is doing great at PHS, too. She is helping decorate the Sophomore float - we will be helping with the music during the Homecoming Parade the end of the month.

JT & I are both looking forward to Breakfast for Babies this Friday morning. Come out to Chappy's Deli on Perry Hill Rd from 530a - 9a and have a GREAT $6 breakfast - all to help raise money to the March of Dimes!

Saturday, JT & I will be attending the Walk with Me - benefitting Easter Seals. That is an easy one. Its walking around the Riverwalk Stadium (most of it in the shade) and the Panera Bread and Starbucks coffee is an added incentive!

Sunday we will be SLEEPING! LOL...

Post op surgery going well.. I was excited to run in the Walk of Life 5k this past weekend! Feeling good...

Today was fun, I got to be in a fashion show during the Prattville Chamber of Commerce's Administrative Professionals Appreciation Day. The guest speaker was Tonya Terry. It was fun to see her. Check out my facebook page for pics..

I cant believe Kim is going into high school. Her schedule is all picked out and she is ready, I am not. Ashlee had to get glasses this past week. WOW now she looks even older than 11.

Things are SO busy at the radio station and all the appearances, we are sneaking away for a weekend in May, I cant wait! Oh yea, its mom's day next month and my birthday.

I am really excited about the great music coming to the River Region in April... Colbie Caillat is coming April 16th to the Riverwalk Amphitheater.. (http://www.etix.com/) and Michael McDonald is coming to MPAC on April 30th (http://www.mpaconline.org/). We are so lucky to have great music and I encourage everyone to pass the word around. I went shopping today at Victoria's Boutique and got my hair done at Indulgence and they were so excited. Make sure you keep listening to MIX 103 for your chance to win tickets. Day 16 after lipo.. I had a good Easter and was able to get some free time to chill and take a pic for before and after. Still some swelling to go down but you can see results already... I go back in a few weeks, once swelling is all done and get measurements!

Day 11 after lipo.. I went to visit Dr. S @ Troy Cosmetic Surgery today.. (3/30/10). I am going to take some pics middle of the week in the same pants so we can all see the progress. I started retaining water on Thursday and called Dr. S's office and got a water pill called in and had to go home and put my feet up, and that took care of it. Great customer service and great care from the entire staff and Dr. S @ Troy Cosmetic Surgery. There is still swelling. It takes a long time for it to go down. I am feeling much better. There is still a small section of my inner tigh that is "heavy" feeling. That is where he did the most of the body jet lipo. Everything looks good and the bruising is already starting to go down. I am so excited to be beach ready soon. More info soon.. Be looking for pics on Wednesday ... L

Day 6 after lipo... I know I said that I would post yesterday but got so busy and then so tired. I forget how tiring it is to be sore. But the good news is I am starting to see a difference already. I am wearing a tight girdle (for lack of a better term) for shaping purposes and it does help with the pressure in my legs that I feel after the lipo. The bruising started on Mon/Tuesday and really hasnt gotten any worse. So much better than with the previous lipo. I am getting around better. And am ready to be back at 100%.. Soon -but I am impatient. I have to wear the girdle for 30 days after the procedure. Not too bad.. I will be posting some after pics in the same workout pants soon.. Day 3 after lipo..I am doing good this am. I was worried about being able to get around quickly this am and getting ready for work and not making us late. All went good. My legs are a little tight this am. The bruising has kicked in but not too bad.. Nothing compared to the combituck. I am really excited.. The swelling is staring to go down and I am seeing results. Yesterday was good because JT and I bought Twilight and New Moon and me and the girls stayed in bed and watched them both. I am now ready to read Eclipse again and I can't wait for the 3rd movie! More updates tomorrow.

March 21st.. Day 2 after my liposuction.. I am doing really good considering. The bruising has started a little bit in my inner thighs.. That is where most of the body jet lipo took place. I am in a girdle from hell for 28 more days and yes I am counting. Really though it feels good to have it on. Dr. S says it will help with the sculpting. Having my mom come up was really cool. It was nice to be the daughter again. She helped with everything even had time to do a load of laundry, make breakfast - cinnamon rolls- and cupcakes with the girls. While she was waiting on me to get thru w/my procedure, Dr. S gave her some botox too! As with the combituck, the getting up and down is the hardest. I fine once I get going. JT has been great. We walked around the block last night, slowly.. He grilled last night and has been such a help. I will be at work on Monday - we have a busy week. One of my New Year's Resolutions was to spend more quality time w/kids and spend more time as a family. Well this past weekend, we defiantly accomplished that.. Saturday was our family date night.. We watched Night at the Museum: "Battle of the Smithsonian" and got great candy too... We all loved it and then on Sunday we decided to include the kids with our Fondue dinner. No steak or fish, but we had pineapples, green apples, marshmallows and bananas.. We had chocolate and cheese as the choices for dipping. We had so much fun. The night ended with the kids throwing marshmallows at Snickers, the cat, and watching the doggies chase the marshmallows and Snickers.. - racing to get the marshmallows.. between Freddie and Bam Bam - there are no marshmallow leftovers.. hee hee...

What a great wrap up to the weekend. The kids are looking forward to Spring Break in 2 weeks and counting...

After all the craziness of getting to the Krewe of Athena Mardi Gras Ball on the correct night, it was amazing. Thanks so much to Brian and DiDi Henry for inviting us. The Legends at the Marriott in Prattville is beautiful and gracious as always and the food is good, too. We had a fabulous time, saw lots of friends and made some new ones as well. The Mardi Gras Ball was a great kick off to our mini day trip to New Orleans for FAT Tuesday this week. We can't wait. JT was so good, he danced and was as handsome as ever and I felt like a princess! Thanks to everyone who gave their time to making it a huge success!

THE DENTIST!

First, I love me dentist office - Drs Tatum and Walker in Prattville and my hygienist! They understand my teeth are sensitive (that's an understatement)! They warm the water and numb my teeth before a cleaning and my Lady Dentist is the Bestest Ever at giving Novocaine and NEVER hurting me. Well that is if the Novocaine works! I have such sensitive teeth that after the gas and 3 attempts with the Novocaine, I just dealt with the pain. Next time, hopefully there wont be one, I am just gonna ask her to turn the gas up until I pass out! Thank goodness for Motrin and soup and a great family who can make their own dinner, while mom recoups!

Two Stories in One Blog

This blog is 2 stories in one.
Last night, JT and I took the girls to dinner. It doesnt matter where we went, we all went together. We were all in a good mood, even considering Kim is 13, Ashlee is our Drama Queen and I have a double ear infection, we didnt have to cook! We laughed and laughed and the girls opened up about their teachers, friends and life. We know it wont be too long and we wont be cool and the girls wont open up or even go to dinner with us, but I am hanging on with both hands to the time we have right now and enjoying my family and we are enjoying our girls RIGHT NOW and forever!

Second, we just met a lady in the studio this morning. She is sharing her Children's Hospital Story with us for our MIX 103 CMN Radiothon on Feb. 18/19. WOW is all I have to say. Her family is so blessed to have her as a mom and a teacher of all. She has biological children and has adopted special needs children internationally and right her from the US and has an amazing story. I am so blessed to have met her this morning. Make sure you listen to hear her story along with several others during our MIX 103 Children's Miracle Network Radiothon coming up next month. Hey there! Welcome to the Mix 103 Blog! Leanne has us all set up with the latest technology here on the Mix 103 website - all we need now is a camera that follows us around 24/7, but that may be a little too much for everybody. Trust me, that would be a little too much for everybody! At any rate, I figured I would take this opportunity to first profess my allegiance to the New Orleans Saints on February 8th in the Super Bowl! This city needs a break after the whole Katrina mess they are still recovering from.

Secondly (and speaking of recovering from disasters), I would like to thank once again the people & businesses that assisted us in getting 3 semi-trucks full of food, water, & first aid supplies to Haiti! Webster Industries, Jose Perez of Jose's Cantina in Prattville, Glynwood Baptist Church, Russell Do It Center in Prattville, Autauga County Rescue Squad and countless other volunteers all came together to make this miracle happen. UPDATE FOR YA - the truck drivers have reported that all 3 trailers were immediately unloaded and the goods were taken directly to the airport to be flown by U.S. Officials to Haiti to be distributed. Thanks again River Region for your support of this humanitarian effort!

Happy Weekend! I finally got to talk to my bestest friend in Atlanta to catch up. Also I stopped by JC Penny on the way home, OMG 75% off sale going on! Great jewerly and workout clothes! (Zumba on Monday for me - have to work on Saturday). Tonight we are going over to our neighbors house for some dinner / wii fun. Should be interesting!

I am looking forward to the ASF Armchair auction. I have some pretty big shoes to fill -, ie Leslie Baily. But Larry Stevens is a pro and we will be fine. JT is headed over to the new Tipping Point at Hamstead. I will be joining him after my part w/the auction.
